Spider Web. Grade 3 Students examined the color wheel and discussed the order of the color wheel and its importance. Students then learned watercolor techniques and the basics of drawing a spider web and created a "color wheel spider web".

Grade 5 Tree in 12 Techniques
12 Technique trees.Grade 5 started out this lesson by learning the basics of drawing trees. We then divided the tree into a grid and each lesson we discuss 2 techniques for the students to add to their tree. It is up to them how and where they use the technique as well as colors they choose. The techniques we have discussed are as follows: Cross-hatching, hatching, pointillism/stipple, scribble, shingle, spiral, chalk pastel, oil pastel, resist/texture, acrylic paint, watercolor paint, colored pencil.
Grade 4 Elements of Design
Elements of Design. Grade 4 Students have been discussing each of the elements of Design: Line, Texture, Space, Form, Color, Shape and Value (as well as introduction of Decoupage). We spend one lesson discussing and learning about each of the elements of design and then adding an example of that element on their piece of artwork. We used different media for the execution of each element.

Each year, 2 students from each grade level are selected to be a part of an exhibit at the Japanese International School. In exchange, the Japanese School, send work from their students to be displayed in the foyer between the ES office and Lunch Bunch room. This is a huge honor for young artists!
