Elementary
Art with Mrs. Adkison
Welcome to Art class!! Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Erika Adkison. I am originally from Wisconsin and am the mother of 3 sons. My husband, Jason, a Florida
native, works in the High School teaching history. I came to SAS in 2006. Previous to Singapore,
I have taught in my home state of Wisconsin as well as Rotorua, New Zealand, Cairo,Egypt,
Nanjing,China and Tokyo,Japan.
First and foremost, I want
you to know that I am a parent myself and my goal is to always make your child
feel loved, safe, relaxed and for them to have fun while learning. Art is about
having fun and trying your best! It REALLY
is the process, not the product!!!! I want children to
have the ability and the permission to experiment with materials and experience
the process and not be stressed about the end product.
I am excited about the art
we will be making in the upcoming year!!
Please refer to the SAS website for
more information on the art program at SAS as well as my blog for great art
links and photos of the current projects we are working on in class.
The students wear aprons
for all messy projects. However, please
forgive me in advance for any “messy stuff” that may get on your child’s
clothing. Most everything I use should
come out with a bit of soaking, cold water and bleach!
I will keep some of
your child’s artwork in my room until the end of the year for the student art
show and student led conferences. If you
would like to see any of their work or pick anything up during the year please
feel free to come by my room.
Wondering what you can
donate to the art room? We are ALWAYS
in need of certain items….please refer to the page on things to donate on my
blog.
If you have any questions
or would like to have a conference please do not hesitate to contact me via the
contact info below.
